M+ Facade Showreel 2022
Social Media Video
Two-minute showcase of the M+ Facade’s dynamic screening programme
This short video summarises the dynamic screenings at the M+ Facade—one of the largest media facades in the world—in 2022, ranging from collection highlights to commissioned works. To capture a variety of close-up, mid-range, wide, and aerial shots of the monumental display, our team filmed at four locations around town including the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade, Centrals Piers, and the Peak. We also included candid urban scenes to contextualise how the magnificent display has been seamlessly integrated into our everyday lives and the Hong Kong cityscape.

We are currently producing the next showcase for the M+ Facade.

“Growth for us is not only physical, but also relational.” - Elaine Lin, Head of Collections - AAA
In this video, the staff and collaborators of Asia Art Archive take viewers on a guided tour of its newly renovated library. Seamless transitions are carefully planned with the client in the storyboarding and scripting stages to create a one-take filming effect, holding one’s attention throughout the video in a subtle manner. Different scenes showcase the archive’s well-lit spatial design and installation snippets, as well as the Sheung Wan neighbourhood. Moving texts and objects highlight key information and make the near seven-minute video more dynamic.

Photographic documentation of the architectural space also provided promotional materials for future marketing purposes.

Face-to-Face | MaD
Promotional Video
One city with ten faces, realities, and stories.
Face-to-Face celebrates the diversity of Hong Kong communities by creating a tailor-made song and music video based on the life stories of ten individuals representing the city’s underrepresented cultural groups. This trailer is set to be shown in cinemas and spotlights these multicultural faces in a rhythmic and moving sequence. To elicit a candid response from the protagonists with no on camera experience, we played the corresponding song on set, letting the melody and lyrics put them at ease and elicit authentic emotional responses.

Hong Kong Neon Sign Artworks Publication Crowdfunding Project | Nous
Promotional Video
This video touches on the significance of Hong Kong’s neon heritage and the objective of the Hong Kong Neon Sign Artworks Publication crowdfunding project – to make a group of precious archival neon sign sketches accessible and collectable in the format of an informative, well-designed publication with high-quality printing. The design team had originally envisioned the video to focus on the experimental printing technique that highlights the colour vibrancy of the signage designs, but we suggested to pivot the focus to the project’s effort in activating this precious archive, which disseminates this representative visual culture from Hong Kong to a wider audience.

Anson Mak: The Beauty of Days Past | M+
Documentary
“The images you see [on film] aren’t the same as what you’d see in real life...it most certainly involves emotions, memories, and your own experience.” – Anson Mak
Hong Kong artist Anson Mak reflects on her poetic creative practice in this interview. As the artist’s oeuvre is mostly documentary-based, we wanted to weave in snippets of her works smoothly with the newly filmed footage while also giving them distinctive characters. A number of b-rolls were filmed in Kwun Tong, as it was a key location in several of her key works, making it a relevant setting for our storytelling.

Documentary
“Bees work in mysterious ways—in ways that we cannot imagine.” – Jill, founder of Social innovation enterprise: Beetales
This series of interview documentaries give a candid and intimate view of local start-ups that were awarded funding from the “Social Innovations for Sustainable Communities” programme. The majority of the interviewees had never appeared on camera before, so our team spent ample time in pre-production to walk them through the process and select the optimal filming locations and scenes to create enriched storylines. This is our second time working with the client, who has entrusted us with executing all 8 videos.
